Three Lightroom Tricks to Transform Your Editing

These Lightroom tricks can transform your photo editing workflow. Simple yet powerful, the techniques will help you make precise adjustments, add creative effects, and change background colors effortlessly.

Coming to you from Anthony Morganti, this engaging video introduces you to three clever Lightroom tricks you might not know. Morganti starts with a trick specific to Lightroom Classic. He shows how you can resize the right-hand panel beyond its usual limits. By holding the Alt key on a PC or the Option key on a Mac while dragging, you can extend the panel to make very fine adjustments. This trick is particularly useful when you need to adjust sliders with maximum precision.

The second trick works with both Lightroom Classic and the cloud version of Lightroom. Morganti explains how to create a spotlight effect behind a model's head using the masking tool. First, select the Radial Gradient and draw it over the model's face, holding the Shift key to make it perfectly round. Then, go to the masking options, click on "Intersect Mask With," and choose "Select Sky." This unexpected step isolates the background, allowing you to brighten it without affecting the model. It's a quick way to add dramatic lighting effects to your portraits. That's just the start, so check out the video above for the full rundown from Morganti.

The two masking tips are pretty useful but I had no idea you could actually make the sliders even wider than the default max width.

Not sure about ‘stupid’ tricks. I think these are pretty useful. You have to love short condensed vids like this one. Great work Anthony. Though for those who have followed the output of Anthony over the years it’s what we have come to expect. Quality guy.
