The Dolomites, in Italy, is a place like no other, with towering jagged peaks, unique rock colors and formations, and most of all, it seems to change a lot but very little at the same time. The light and weather are key components when it comes to creating banger shots in this UNESCO World Heritage location.
In this latest video from Michael Shainblum, we are transported to a collection of incredible locations and get to enjoy its POV style! Fresh from leaving me in Ireland, Michael was right into the mix of it and got some incredible conditions, the kind of conditions we all dream of. Stunning light, cloud inversions, still lakes, and best of all, many hikers who not only added to his shots but also created a perfect sense of scale in this stunning area.
The time of year has a big bearing on the shots you can get. For example, I visited these exact locations in the depths of winter, and I couldn’t see any of the ground below me, a shame I feel as it’s not only the mountains that are stunning here. The foregrounds can play a big part as the light dances over them and add some much-needed contrasts. Michael, however, was there at the perfect time, autumn/fall.
So grab a cup of your favorite beverage, pop on the big screen, and enjoy the cinematic journey to a place that I would highly recommend visiting! It doesn’t get much better than this if you are a landscape photography fan!
And the best part is Michael has had all of this footage and images sitting on his hard drive since Oct. 2023!
Goodness those are some beautiful photographs. Love Love Love this video!
I can’t imagine letting all those sit on my HD for so long :-) have you visited ?
