Removing people from your landscape photos can transform a good shot into a great one. But doing it manually is tedious and time-consuming. You need a faster, more efficient way to clean up your images without sacrificing quality.
Coming to you from Aaron Nace with PHLEARN, this practical video shows you a lightning-fast method to remove unwanted people from your photos using Photoshop’s generative fill feature. This technique starts by using the lasso tool to select people you want to remove. For a few individuals, this method is quick and effective. Select the lasso tool, draw around the people, and use generative fill. In seconds, they vanish, leaving a pristine landscape.
But what if your photo is crowded? Using the lasso tool for each person can be exhausting. Here’s where Nace’s method shines. Switching to quick mask mode, you can paint over everything you want to remove. This method is faster and doesn’t require precision. Simply hit Q to enter quick mask mode, then use the brush tool to paint over the people. Exiting quick mask mode turns the painted areas into selections.
Nace advises making sure your selections are correct. After painting, invert your selection to ensure it’s accurate. This step is crucial. Click the inverse icon to make sure only the painted areas are selected. Now, apply the generative fill. Photoshop will use AI to fill in the selected areas seamlessly. This method is efficient and works even with a crowded image.
Quick mask mode combined with generative fill offers a powerful solution. It’s faster than traditional methods and requires less precision. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Nace.
